Ch. 1: Eggman's Retirement

In Emerald City, the winter was a season of snow, wind, and (to the relief of everybody) the time Eggman takes a break from his bid for world domination. In a house no to far from the city hall, a family of hedgehogs that have become world famous over the past 15 years lived. "Soniiiic, where did you go?" Said a pink hedgehog with an ice pick. "You need to get the ice off of the car windows." On the other side of the generously sized home, a blue hedgehog was going towards the window on the south side of the room. "I can't believe this weather, it's like the god of snow is punishing us!" Right before he could get out, he heard a high pitched voice from the doorway. "Daddy, why are you going out of the window?" Asked a blue hedgehog girl. "I'm just...testing out our fire escape system." Replied Sonic. "But isn't the Fire Escape System in my room? 'Cause that's where you said it was last time." Retorted his daughter. "Well Terri, me and mommy made this other-" He was interrupted by his wife appearing in the doorway. "SONIC!" Yelled his wife, "Where do you think you're going?" Sonic sighed, and said in a sarcatsic tone "To the car." Amy ignored the tone and handed him the ice pick. "You'll need this". Sonic climed back into the house and went out the front door to get the ice off the car.

Not far off the shore of the beach was an artificial island that couldn't be detected by most radars. "...I need to stop this," Said a quite rotund figure, "after fifteen years, I've had enough, I can barely even walk." He floated over to a desk in his egg mobile. "Time to end this." A blue hedgehog robot had started to walk toward the exit. "Where are you going Metal?" The robot didn't look at his creator. "I'm leaving, I think the bermuda triangle is a good place to live." The old scientist looked over at his computer screen. "You think that other scientist is there? You want a new home with a new scientist?" The robot looked at Eggman, "I'm going to kill him, as a retirement gift." Eggman finished writing a letter. "Drop this off at Sonic's house on your way." Eggman had handed the letter to Metal Sonic. "Yes sir." And with that, Metal Sonic flew off towards Emerald City.

In the city, Sonic had just finished scraping the ice off of a pink corvette when a letter fell in front of him. "Huh? What's this? It's adressed to me." He opened the letter and a frown came over his face. "Eggy wants to meet me at a sushi retaurant? He either became too old for rationality, or he's really serious." He had dropped the ice pick on the counter in his house and took off towards Tail and Cream's house in the uptown district.

In a house shaped like a fox head, a fox with two tails was working on a sword hilt when a rabbit came in and wrapped her arms around the foxes neck and kissed him on the cheek. "Why don't you take a break? I've been lonely all day, and you're always in this cave." The fox smiled, "You never know when eggman is going to strike, but I am a bit hungry. Go get the keys and I'll meet you by the car." Cream left the room and Tails had put a drape over the hilt and left the room. As soon as he got outside, he saw a familliar blue blur and sighed, "What does he want now?" As Sonic slowed to a halt in front of Tails, he wasted no time explaining the situation. "...What?" Said Tails, stunned by the news. "Yeah, that's what I thought." Replied Sonic. "Do you want me to come? Or do you want me to work on a wire?" Tails sounded dissapointed, and when Sonic saw Cream come out of the house with her purse, Sonic had decided to decline these offers, and to tell Tails to call him when he got back. "I'll see you later." And with that, Sonic rushed off towards the mountains to get a different type of help. "Maybe he has matured." Remarked Tails. "What did Sonic want?" Asked Cream. "Nothing important, ready to go?" Replied Tails. "Yeah, so where do you want to go?" Cream asked. "Hmm...how about the Sushi place?" Tails suggested. "Sure, I love that place." Said Cream

In the mountains, an Echinda is chopping wood in front of a cave, when he heard something heading toward him. "Why is Sonic here?" He chopped his last piece of wood and Sonic was standing in front of him when he looked up. "Hey Knux, aren't axes needed for chopping?" Said Sonic. "What do you want?" Asked Knuckles. "I need you to be lookout in a restaurant." Replied Sonic. Knuckles looked up, "I'm bringing Julie-Su." "Fine, but this involves Eggman, so be on alert." A female voice came out of the cave, "Knuckles, are you done yet?" "We're gonna go for dinner." Knuckles yelled back. Julie-Su stepped out of the cave and saw all the wood piled up, but couldn't see Sonic, who was behind the wood pile. "I'm going to get ready." And with that, she stepped back inside the cave. "The Sushi place." Said Sonic, and he went towards the city.

Inside a sushi restaurant in the west side of town, a man in a robe and a bandana around his mouth. As soon as he saw Sonic, enter, he stood up, and Sonic went to his table. "So Eggy, you need a diguise to enter the city now?" Sonic smirked at his own comment, but Eggman had stayed serious. "I'm here to tell you that I'm retiring." Eggman had been so blunt, Sonic was caught by suprise. "How can I believe you?" Said Sonic in a dark tone that didn't suit him. "Look at how long we've been fighting. While you are in perfect shape to continue this rivalry, I have become old and too tired to continue. I've decided that I'm going to dissapear for the rest of my life and live in peace." A fox had looked up in suprise from the table in front of them. "What's wrong Tails?" Asked Cream. "Oh...nothing, so what do you want to eat?" Back to Eggman's table, Sonic had decided to make a deal. "I'll leave you alone, so long as you leave this country." Offered Sonic. "Fine, but don't follow me." Eggman got up and left 500$ on the table. "Hmmm, seems Eggy is loaded." Sonic got up and left after Eggman.
